Rep. Barry Loudermilk (GA-11), Chairman of the House Administration Committee's Oversight Subcommittee, has expressed his intention to examine the unredacted transcripts from key White House officials who testified in the former January 6 Select Committee's probe. The White House has offered to share these transcripts, however, Rep. Loudermilk argues that these are House records and should be returned in full.

"Chairman Bennie Thompson claims total transparency, yet no current Republican Member of Congress has ever seen these transcripts or their contents," said Rep. Loudermilk. "I agree that operational details and security information must be highly protected. However, the American people have a right to know the full truth, not just facts the Select Committee apparently cherry-picked and published online. I look forward to reviewing these transcripts to better understand why the Select Committee sought testimony from these individuals and why they attempted to hide them from House Republicans and our Subcommittee."

Rep. Loudermilk had previously written letters to White House Counsel Richard A. Sauber and Department of Homeland Security General Counsel Jonathan Meyer, requesting unedited and unredacted transcripts from White House and Department of Homeland Security officials who testified before the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. The Oversight Subcommittee has obtained records indicating that numerous Secret Service employees who were either with former President Trump or in close proximity to him on January 6, 2021, were interviewed. Rep. Loudermilk finds it extremely concerning that House Democrats did not properly archive these transcripts as required by House rules, but instead hid them from House Republicans by sending them to the White House and DHS.

Rep. Loudermilk's request for transparency in accessing the full transcripts aligns with his commitment to ensuring that the American people have access to the complete truth regarding the events of January 6th. He believes that while operational details and security information should be protected, it is essential for the public to have a comprehensive understanding of what transpired.

The White House's offer to share the unredacted transcripts is seen as a step in the right direction, but Rep. Loudermilk emphasizes the importance of returning these records to the House in their entirety. He maintains that the American people deserve access to all relevant information and not just selective facts.

As the Chairman of the House Administration Committee's Oversight Subcommittee, Rep. Loudermilk is committed to conducting a thorough examination of the witness testimonies to gain a better understanding of the rationale behind the Select Committee's decision to seek testimony from these individuals and why they were concealed from House Republicans and the Subcommittee.

Rep. Loudermilk's persistence in pursuing the unredacted transcripts reflects his dedication to accountability and transparency in the investigation into the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol. By thoroughly reviewing these vital testimonies, he aims to uncover the truth and ensure that the American people have access to all relevant information surrounding this significant event in the nation's history.
